Links to full text articles exist where the “Full Text” icon is displayed against a citation. These links use DOI numbers listed in the records to link out to full text on publisher websites. We are working with Elsevier now to enable linking via our OpenURL resolver to display links to our subscribed content during the trial access. This should be available soon.
Further information on the databases being trialled in Engineering Village is given below.
Engineering Village, the essential engineering research database, provides a searchable index of the most comprehensive engineering literature and patent information available. Designed by, and for, the engineering community, this comprehensive, all-inclusive platform gives academic institutions, corporations and government agencies, access to peer-reviewed, deeply indexed, relevant and accurate engineering research content—all in a single, easy-to-use interface.
Ei Compendex is the broadest and most complete engineering literature database available in the world with over 20 million indexed records from 77 countries across 190 engineering disciplines. Every record is carefully selected and indexed using the Engineering Index Thesaurus so engineers can be confident information is relevant, complete, accurate and of high quality.
Inspec, created by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), is one of the world’s most definitive bibliographic scientific databases, containing 15+ million records. Librarians of the world’s top universities have relied on the Inspec database as a trusted source for relevant, peer reviewed scientific content for over 40 years. Inspec can be supplemented with the Inspec Archive to extend coverage and contains close to 900,000 records dating back to 1898. Its records have been digitized and indexed for fast, effective searching and are enhanced with current-day Inspec Thesaurus terms and Classification codes.
Comprised of two highly specialized engineering databases, EnCompass is trusted worldwide for providing superior insights from scientific literature and patents targeted specifically for research in the petroleum refining, petrochemical, natural gas, and related energy industries. Started by the American Petroleum Institute in 1961, these databases are extensively indexed utilizing proprietary technology known as the Encompass Thesaurus. Both databases are updated weekly, with EnCompassLIT covering 1+ million records and EnCompassPAT 650,000+ records. With EnCompass, businesses can significantly improve the quality of technical information and accelerate research, maximizing the value of energy R&D dollars.
The EnCompass Thesaurus, 52nd Edition is available.
Engineering Village Patents give researchers the tools they need to take advantage of the scientific and technical information found within the United States and the European Union patent records. Whether preparing a patent application, tracking a technology, identifying a potential collaborator or competitor, or simply learning more about work that is being done in a particular field, patent documents are an essential source for thorough, successful research. The Engineering Village Patent databases contain 12.7 million patents filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and 4.4 million patents filed with the European Union Patent Office (EPO).
